If you haven’t heard of SAXX, they started in 2006 and aimed to revolutionize men’s underwear. It all started with their BallPark Pouch that keeps keeps everything in place and prevents skin to skin chafing. They have both everyday and performance lines, various styles in each, and wide range of colors and awesome patterns. I was able to try out the boxers from their Kinetic series, and after a few weeks of wearing them, here’s my SAXX Kinetic boxer review.
Style and Look
The Saxx Kinetic boxers are incredibly sleek looking. The blackout version I’m reviewing is my personal favorite, but they also are available in black with accent colors and a few patterns. The waistband is just the right width (1.75 inches) that it doesn’t roll or dig into your waist. It also features the SAXX logo raised and in silicone. It’s a really unique look that I haven’t really seen before. It’s also worth mentioning that these have no fly.
Quality and Material
I really can’t say enough about the quality of these. The are a little expensive at right around $37 a pair, but seem to be worth it. The material that they are made of feels thick, tough, and like it will last. (The fabric has 90% nylon and 10% spandex.) Even though the material is thick, you don’t sacrifice the breathability or moisture-wicking you expect from a pair of high end boxers. It stretches with you as you move and holds its shape all day long. Unlike companies that have to make their boxers thin to make them wick moisture, SAXX has the best of both worlds. The material is also anti-microbial, so they hopefully won’t collect any unwanted odors.
Comfort and Feel
The innovation that SAXX started with is their BallPark Pouch. If you haven’t heard of it, you can read the full story on their website. At its core, it’s two narrow mesh panels that keep your package separated from your legs. That means that no matter what you’re doing, or how hard your working out, they will support you without chafing. It’s tough to describe the level of comfort it provides. If you’re interested, I definitely recommend you try a pair of SAXX to feel firsthand.
They have also done something interesting with the seams. Seams all have a flatter side that looks a little more finished and a slightly raised side. Most companies put rough seam inside and the cleaner one outside. SAXX reverses this and puts the flat side in, so you can’t feel any of the seams as you wear them. It makes it a lot less likely to annoy you as you wear them.
Fit
These boxers are made with a semi compression fit. They really don’t ride up like most other boxers. Don’t get me wrong, they still ride up slightly as you move around and workout. However, it’s better than most other brands. They have the SAXX Three-D Fit, which means that each pair has 9 pieces of fabric sewn together to be the perfect shape. That means that they fit really well, and aren’t tight in some places or loose in others. They just fit really well.
I tried the boxer version, which has a 5 inch inseam. The Kinetic is also available in a long leg (which has a 8 inch inseam), a brief, and long tights. If you do choose to try them out, be sure to check out their sizing guide. Their sizes are slightly different from typical sizing.
Overall SAXX Kinetic Boxer Review
The best thing I can say about these boxers is that once you put them on, you completely forget about them. They feel great and don’t get uncomfortable even in tough workouts. The only downside is the price, but with how they seem to hold up, you’ll probably get to wear them for a long time. If you love the Kinetic boxers, you can also get their running or training shorts. These performance shorts have the Kinetic boxer built in. (I’ll probably be getting a pair soon.) Hopefully this SAXX Kinetic boxer review helps you understand all that SAXX has to offer.
