Bearbottom Clothing Review – Rec Shorts and Tech Tee

with No Comments

Bearbottom Clothing may be best known for their cool casual shorts, but they also have an impressive collection of activewear. We recently tried some of their performance gear out, and here’s our full Bearbottom Clothing review.

Bearbottom Clothing Review - Rec Shorts in Navy

The Rec Shorts

The Rec Shorts are the quintessential pair of workout shorts. They have a versatile design that makes them perfect for anywhere from a Crossfit gym to the yoga studio and even the hiking trail.

Fit

Our favorite aspect of these shorts is the fit. All of Bearbottom’s shorts tend to be just that, short. Most athletic shorts from other brands tend to hit at or past your knees with a wide fit. These shorts break the mold with the perfect length. We tried the 7 inch pair, which hit a few inches above the knee. They also have a 5.5 inch pair for guys who like them a little bit shorter. Lengths like these give you a complete range of motion so the shorts never get in the way.

The Rec shorts have a slimmer fit that’s tailored throughout for a stylish look. Not only are these shorts perfect for the gym, but they look good enough to wear outside the gym too.

Materials and Design

The material that Bearbottom used for these Rec shorts is really nice. It’s lightweight and really breathable. It easily and quickly wicks away any sweat. The one gripe we have with these shorts is that they could be a little stretchier. They have a slight stretch, but not as much as we’d like. It’s doesn’t end up too big of an issue, and it’s definitely not a dealbreaker.

The Rec Shorts come in a variety of colors, all heathered neutral colors, perfect for hiding sweat. Plus they even have two camo options for guys who prefer a bolder print.

The other great details about these shorts are the waistband and pockets. The no-bunch waistband is really soft and comfortable. It lays flat, which just looks, and feels, better than typical bunched elastic waistbands. An internal drawstring ensures a snug fit. The string has rubberized tips, which is a nice design to prevent fraying. (You know those plastic tips that always break and fall off? Well that won’t happen here.) These have plenty of storage too. Two side pockets are convenient and nicely sized, plus a zipped back pocket keeps your valuables secured.

Other Styles

Bearbottom Clothing has a pretty wide range of shorts and apparel. They have a lot of different performance options too. They’ve got these Rec shorts, some Run shorts, and a cross functional Drifter shorts. And while our Bearbottom Clothing review only looked at the Rec shorts, we’re confident that all the other shorts are just as high quality.

Bearbottom Clothing Review Tech Tee

The Tech Tee

More than just shorts, Bearbottom offers a couple t-shirts, including the Tech Tee. It’s a moisture wicking tee that comes in a variety of colors. The clean design looks good and feels even better.

Material

Bearbottom calls their Tech Tee, a “Mind-blowingly soft tee.” At first we thought this was just over-zealous marketing, but turns out it’s 100% true. It’s crazy how soft the tee is. It’s so much nicer than a cotton tee because it’s lighter weight and so breathable. With how soft and lightweight it is you begin to not feel it at all. And best of all, after a few washes it’s still holding up like new.

Fit

We’re also in love with the fit of this tee. With an active shirt we don’t want anything too loose. This shirt has just the right slim cut. It balances the fit perfectly: It won’t restrict you at all as you’re working out, and it definitely isn’t baggy and unflattering like standard boxy tees.

Even though this may be categorized as an activewear shirt, it’s so much more. We found ourselves grabbing for this shirt for running errands, afternoon hangouts, and just lounging on the weekend.

About Bearbottom Clothing

Our Bearbottom Clothing review wouldn’t be complete without a look at the company too. And they have a pretty cool mantra, “Feel good, look good, and do good.” In addition to making comfortable and stylish clothes, they stand up for social justice. For every item they sell they also give a pair of shorts to the local community where it’s made. This kind of looking out for the communities they do business in is a cool change of pace in today’s fast-fashion world.

We definitely recommend you check out some of Bearbottom Clothing’s gear. It’s quality stuff that you’ll love to wear.
